Awarded this project after teaming up with local writer Robert Trammell a Texas poet and writer whose ancestors helped establish the earliest frontier settlements in East Texas. Robert then wrote prose, poetry and stories about this historic area which was then incorporated into the panel design using typography, images, and photos to create an historical visual essay. The design was intended not necessarily to be read as a whole piece, but as snippets as time allowed and keeping interest over multiple visits.
The steel panels were produced using a baked porcelain process. Application is similar to silkscreen and was limited to three colors including the background.
